Genasi height and weight
Those who think of other planes at all consider them remote, distant realms, but planar influence can be felt throughout the world. It sometimes manifests in beings who, through an accident of birth, carry the power of the planes in their blood. The genasi are one such people, the offspring of genies and mortals. The Elemental Planes are often inhospitable to natives of the Material Plane: crushing earth, searing flames, boundless skies, and endless seas make visiting these places dangerous for even a short time.
The powerful genies, however, don't face such troubles when venturing into the mortal world. They adapt well to the mingled elements of the Material Plane, and they sometimes visit—whether of their own volition or compelled by magic. Some genies can adopt mortal guise and travel incognito. During these visits, a mortal might catch a genie's eye. Friendship forms, romance blooms, and sometimes children result.
These children are genasi: individuals with ties to two worlds, yet belonging to neither. Some genasi are born of mortal—genie unions, others have two genasi as parents, and a rare few have a genie further up their family tree, manifesting an elemental heritage that's lain dormant for generations.
Occasionally, genasi result from exposure to a surge of elemental power, through phenomena such as an eruption from the Inner Planes or a planar convergence. Elemental energy saturates any creatures in the area and might alter their nature enough that their offspring with other mortals are born as genasi.
As an air genasi, you are descended from the djinn. As changeable as the weather, your moods shift from calm to wild and violent with little warning, but these storms rarely last long.D\u0026D Genasi Race - What Character Class Should You Play
Air genasi typically have light blue skin, hair, and eyes. A faint but constant breeze accompanies them, tousling the hair and stirring the clothing. Some air genasi speak with breathy voices, marked by a faint echo. A few display odd patterns in their flesh or grow crystals from their scalps. Unending Breath You can hold your breath indefinitely while you're not incapacitated. Mingle with the Wind You can cast the levitate spell once with this trait, requiring no material components, and you regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest.
Constitution is your spellcasting ability for this spell. As an earth genasi, you are descended from the cruel and greedy dao, though you aren't necessarily evil. You have inherited some measure of control over earth, revelling in superior strength and solid power.
You tend to avoid rash decisions, pausing long enough to consider your options before taking action. Elemental earth manifests differently from one individual to the next. Some earth genasi always have bits of dust falling from their bodies and mud clinging to their clothes, never getting clean no matter how often they bathe.
Others are as shiny and polished as gemstones, with skin tones of deep brown or black, eyes sparkling like agates. Earth genasi can also have smooth metallic flesh, dull iron skin spotted with rust, a pebbled and rough hide, or even a coating of tiny embedded crystals.
The most arresting have fissures in their flesh, from which faint light shines.Water genasi also known as watersoul genasi were one of five most common subraces or "manifestations" within the genasi race. Like all genasi manifestations they can be manifested by experienced genasi who have a different primary manifestation but have trained themselves otherwise or have acquired the manifestation as a result of hidden ancestry or environmental conditions.
Most water genasi were descended from marid geniesalthough a few have other origins, including some who were descended from the goddess Umberlee. Water genasi szuldar were often bright blue in color and most of the race is bald, though there are exceptions. The skin of the water genasi is usually sea-foam green or blue. A few other, rarer, features were found amongst water genasi, such as lightly scaled skin, clammy flesh, blue-green hair, excessive perspiration, blue-black eyes, or a muffled voice that sounds as if drowned in water.
Most genasi have a lifespan identical to that of humans. Water genasi were unusually patient for genasi and have a strongly independent streak. Most were used to solving problems on their own and not afraid to take a lot of time doing so.
At times they were like terrible storms, fierce and destructive, but most often they presented a tranquil appearance despite whatever emotions run underneath their quiet surface.
Genasi (3.5e Race)
Water genasi were often abandoned by their human parents and raised by aquatic creatures such as aquatic elvesdolphinslocathahmerfolksahuaginor even aboleths. Water genasi usually leave their parents upon reaching maturity, taking to the open sea in order to explore, learn and develop their own personality and place in the world.
Many water genasi feel strong ties to great bodies of water and see themselves as possessing the deep, elemental strength of oceans and mighty rivers. Though more patient than other genasi many retain a chaotic instinct and hated to be tied down, preferring to remain as untamed as the waters of the world.
Like earthsoul genasiwater genasi can be proud and this pride often manifests itself in a fearlessness that is not common amongst others of their race. A great many water genasi feel that they are unique and superior to the humans that bore them, and they had little or no interest in others of their kind.
Only in large communities of sea elves are more than one water genasi likely to spend much time together. Many water genasi even looked down on humans who use the sea as their means to a livelihood, seeing them as vulnerable and weak fools.
Most water genasi had no particular bent in alignment, preferring to avoid extremes, though like all genasi they were drawn towards chaos. Many water genasi were also raised by aquatic elves and sometimes demonstrate values similar to those of the race such as freedom or good behavior.
Others were raised by sahuagin and became bloodthirsty killers and the difference between water genasi of different upbringings was sometimes compared to the difference between a quiet spring and a raging waterfall.
Odd as it may seem, few water genasi enjoyed the presence of other water genasi, as it made them feel less unique and special. As a whole, water genasi avoided others of their race to an extent not common amongst other manifestations, who tend to view one another as kin and would-be brothers and sisters. Few water genasi married other water genasi, making the variant one of the rarest genasi manifestations and many water genasi were actually the result of individuals whose parents were not water genasi but who had one or more distant ancestors who were.
This lonely, isolationist behavior made most watersoul poor leaders. Like all genasi, water genasi felt a draw to both arcane magic and elemental magic but a great many also felt drawn to the ways of divine or even primal magic. Most water genasi spellcasters were clerics or druids and relatively few had the talent for sorcery. Many genasi wizards favored conjuration as a school of specialization, as it allowed them to summon other water elementals to their side. Water genasi had no common racial deity due to their varied origins but there were some tendencies amongst the subrace.
For the many water genasi raised amongst aquatic elves, for instance, Deep Sashelas was a natural choice for worship. Many of the god's genasi devoted serve as emissaries and go-betweens for the aquatic elves and their land-bound cousins. Another common subject of worship, Istishiabesides drawing attention due to his status as a primordial, was also appealing to water genasi due to his flexible nature and message of overcoming obstacles over time.
Worshipers of the primordial were often mediators who intercede between groups who share the same water. Others choose other gods to worship. Some water genasi worshiped Auril the Frostmaiden. These individuals typically favored cold weather and enjoyed swimming beside seals and other similar creatures in arctic waters.Planestouched Races Races. Alternatively, roll the dice indicated for your class on the appropriate table and add the result to the minimum age of adulthood for your race to determine your character's age.
With age, a character's physical ability scores decrease and his mental ability scores increase see the Aging Effects tables. The effects of each aging step are cumulative. However, none of a character's ability scores can be reduced below 1 in this way. When a character reaches venerable age, secretly roll his maximum age on the appropriate Aging Effects table and record the result, which the player does not know. Changelings also usually don't grow body hair, but it is rumored that if a dwarf was one of the parents they possibly could. Their eyes are dark as the night, which makes it difficult to see the iris and pupil. If transformed, a changeling's eyes appear normal to others according to what is imitated, but on a closer examination, the conjunctiva around the iris is slightly tinted in a weak yellowish tone. On their forehead, they have two small horns above the eyes on the hairline.
The base color of the hair is based on the skin color, but includes an other color in varying intensity, commonly violet. Their ears tend towards a double pointed form, like an elves ear, but with a split-tip and the noses can range from flat and slitted like a skeleton to subtle or even beautiful button noses.
In contrast to their distant appetence, the doppelgangerchangelings can be male or female, but are bound to the one sex they were born with and are omnivores. They can tolerate eating raw meat, but most can't digest raw fruits and plants well. A changeling's body features are often described as a bit strange or even off-putting by the common folk. Changelings, because of their ability to change into any person they want or need just like their distant relatives the doppelgangerhave a long history in numerous different activities including but not limited to acting, working in the business of lust, and conducting stealth and espionage missions.
Some of the more popular changelings have managed to gather so much fame in their career, that they were known in the whole land and acclaimed by their fans for their talent on the stage.
But as it is, bad times are remembered longer. In times of conflict, it wasn't uncommon to fall victim to a changeling spy of the other faction. The fear was ever-present and unbearable in most circumstances. The thought that one of your closest comrades or friends could suddenly slice your throat drove many people into insanity. Just as scary is the thought that any travelers or strangers you meet might in truth be wanted criminal changelings from a well known dangerous bandit band, scouting out the streets to plan their next raid.
Genasi - Race
In larger cities, however, many people find something irresistible about changelings for their potential to grant someone their most desired fantasies. However, due to several changelings prominently working in less than savory jobs outside of their communities a certain stigma has stuck to them over time with most considered to be untrustworthy and having too many secrets, despite the fact that those who make their living with these unsavory jobs only represent a small part of the whole species similar to whatever else could be found in any other culture per se.
The ever-changing nature of changelings and their experiments with new looks and personalities, however, tend to only feed the prejudices held against them. But most of the aversion directed towards changelings from other races is due to the fact that changelings are and have been by nature not interested in raising of their own young and often switch out their children with other races.
The history of the species itself and how it came to be is little known. It is theorised, that the now known race of the changelings was in earlier days a collection of halfbreeds between doppelgangerhumans and half-humans of all kind, which overlapped at some point and formed the modern changelings.
But unfortunately, these were happenings long before the recording of history. Maybe some very old dragons or an aboleth may know, but it can also easily be nothing but hearsay. Changelings are commonly known to be friendly and welcoming in their societies, but some changelings that moved in from the outside might be afraid or hold a grudge against members of the common folk, based on personal experiences in their lives.
Outsiders who are not used to changeling society might be afraid based on what they have heard, due to the prejudices held against the changelings, or hold a grudge, based on their experiences and are likely to mistake friendliness as false safety.Technically speaking, the genasi were not a race but rather a general classification of humans who had a heritage usually unknown that included some planar being from one of the elemental planes most often a genie daodjinnefreetmaridor jann which is whence their name is derived.
Each of the four fundamental elements had associated genasi, so the most common genasi were air genasiearth genasifire genasiand water genasi.
These included the dust para-genasiice para-genasimagma para-genasiooze para-genasismoke para-genasisteam para-genasiamong other possibilities. Para-genasi were even rarer than the four standard genasi. No two genasi were alike in appearance. A group of four genasi battle sahuagin aboard a sailing vessel. Even after the Spellplague, no genasi could maintain a neutral, "non-elemental" state, and their physical appearance changed depending on the elemental soul that they were currently manifesting.
Those genasi manifesting an "earthsoul" had brown skin and golden eyes. Those manifesting a "firesoul" had bronze skin and orange eyes, with flickering flames coming out of their heads. Genasi with the "watersoul" manifestation had skin the color of seafoam and were bald.
Genasi were about the same size and stature as normal humans, but their bodies displayed signs of greater physical strength, and other subtle indications of their heritage. Genasi of the era between the Spellplague and the Second Sundering bore a unique physical feature not reported in earlier generations.
Regardless of their elemental manifestation, the body of each such genasi was etched with strange lines of energy, called szuldar in Primordial that glowed in a color associated with the element that the genasi was currently manifesting. The earthsoul manifestation had golden-colored energy lines; the firesoul manifestation had fiery orange lines; the stormsoul manifestation had silvery lines; the watersoul had bright blue lines; and the windsoul light blue.
These lines appeared in a pattern that was passed along family lines, sometimes extending into small communities as well. Though the patterns could be similar between relatives in a general sense, the specific configurations were unique to each individual and served much the same purpose that fingerprints did amongst humans; the pattern of these lines remained unchanged even when a genasi changed their manifestation.
Many genasi, especially adventurers, displayed these lines with pride, often wearing clothing that left a fair amount of skin exposed. Though szuldar usually remain unchanged throughout a genasi's life it was possible to alter them through scarring. Some genasi did this deliberately for aesthetic reasons, or in order to disguise themselves. Most genasi, however, disapproved of the practice and saw it as a loss of self-awareness, valuing the patterns they were born with as a mark of their identity.
An elemental tempest. All genasi had inherent magical powers and resistances related to their element. During the era after the Spellplague, a rare few genasi could control two elemental manifestations simultaneously. These powerful entities were known as elemental tempests.
Like other planetouched, because of the strength of their elemental heritage, many spells that specifically affected humanoids had no effect on genasi. On the other hand, some spells that affected outsiders were effective against them, such as banishment. Unlike many planetouched races, genasi generally took pride in their unusual features. The personality of the typical genasi reflected her or his core element.
